Went to my first prenantal appt with my Gyn today.  She was great and took time and answered all the questions I had, im just a little nervous about one thing...she wants me to get a cerclage at 12 weeks. I am writing mostly for comfort because I thought everything was going to be ok, and now I'm getting worried again

I had a LEEP-cone procedure in May and then I found out that I was pregnant early in August.  (I'm 11 weeks today)  This surgery may cause me to have an incompetent cervix, which would result in 2nd trimester miscarriage.

On Wednesday I checked my cervix and discovered that it was extremely soft and squishy. I figured maybe it was just that day or the fact that I had just woken up, so I checked again the next morning. So I talked to the Dr who performed my surgery, today. I called her in hopes of some reassuring information and that is not what I got. 
We talked about the cerclage and and she said that some doctors don't even do it and that there is debate over it being effective enough.

I have my 24-week appointment on Friday (which, to my understanding, is supposed to be pretty routine and uneventful provided that all seems well).
